Archaeology Section
“In this section, historical and cultural objects are displayed, including glazed and unglazed pottery vessels, metal objects and tools (silver, bronze, brass), stone inscriptions, stone and pottery beads (spindle whorls), earthenware figurines, bone objects, stone arrowheads, and pottery coffins. A variety of objects dating from the second millennium BC (Iron Age) to the Safavid period are present. Among the prominent items within the unglazed pottery are the black and gray ceramics discovered from the ancient site of Hasanlu Tepe, which were created using a potter’s wheel and date back to the late second and first millennia BC. These vessels acquired their color due to their distinct firing technique and were exclusively fired in closed kilns. The pottery coffin discovered from Hasanlu, which was essentially a type of grave, is also one of the interesting artifacts in this section.”
